Effective Coping Skills

for Uncertain, Turbulent Times

 

 decreasing anxiety & worry in the midst of unsettling, stressful world events . . .  

 

The increasing uncertainties during these challenging, uncertain economic & geopolitical times are escalating stress and anxiety.

   

This two-hour evening workshop shares a variety of research-based tips and approaches

for decreasing worry, anxiety, doom scrolling, and co-ruminating,

to cope more effectively through the turbulence.

 

YOU WILL LEARN :

  • skills for navigating the stress and anxiety that naturally escalates during unpredictable, tumultuous circumstances

  • how to become more comfortable in the face of uncertainty

  • ways to shift from catastrophic worrying to constructive thinking 
  • tips for weathering life’s storms and turning challenges into stepping stones 

  • self-regulation strategies for promoting a centre of calm

This two hour educational, skills-oriented workshop meets on  

Wednesday, MAY 28, 2025

from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

ON-LINE 
(this will be a virtual workshop via Zoom)

 

FEE :

  • $  5 for University of Guelph students   (due to a subsidy from U of G Student Health Services)
  • $ 20 for members of United Steelworkers Local 4120   (due to a subsidy from Local 4120)
  • $ 37 for all others

Payment is on-line  (or by cheque or e-transfer, if pre-arranged)

Gift certificates are available.

  • Join a waiting list to start another workshop earlier, or meet on a different day / time :
    For those interested in having this workshop offered at another day or time, leave your name on the Effective Coping Skills for Uncertain, Turbulent Times waiting list by e-mailing ksomers@uoguelph.ca or call the Stress Management and High Performance Clinic at 519 824-4120, ext. 52662. Please specify which days and times you prefer to meet. A workshop can begin anytime there are 6 or more names on the waiting list. 
  • Arrange for a workshop to come to your workplace or community site :
    The Effective Coping Skills for Uncertain, Turbulent Times workshop, or selected topics from this workshop, can be provided on-site at your workplace or community group site.   A 30-60 minute Lunch & Learn session can also be provided.  Call the Stress Management and High Performance Clinic at 519 824-4120, ext. 52662 to make arrangements for sessions at your location. 
  • Make an appointment for private training :
    Any of the Effective Coping Skills for Uncertain, Turbulent Times topics listed above can be provided in private, one-to-one training sessions. Daytime, late afternoon, and evening times are available on weekdays throughout the year. Call 519 824-4120, ext. 52662, or e-mail ksomers@uoguelph.ca to make a private appointment for individual training.
